This summer 125 students ages 7-14 will start businesses in Waco, Texas in partnership with Start Up Waco, Baylor University, and Boss Club.
The Summer Entrepreneurship Program will teach and equip youth in Waco to create and run their very own businesses. The Program will teach them independence, creativity, and drive, while also exposing them to the mission and community involvement of the Program’s sponsors and partners.
We need mentors on select dates to help students from all over Waco build their first business.
The Program will last three weeks (July 13th – August 3rd) where participants will start and run their own businesses through the Boss Club business kits and self-guided curriculum along with the optional help of their amazing mentors. Participants will be able to choose one of three business kits offered by Boss Club and they will be distributed at the beginning of the Program at the Start Up Waco co-working space.
The Program will conclude with a business launch party and press event that will showcase the Program’s success stories and accomplishments.
July 16th: Commercial Kitchen Day at Jesus Said Love (1pm to 4pm)
July 18th: Commercial Kitchen Day at Jesus Said Love (1pm to 4pm)
July 20th: Downtown Waco Farmers Market (9am to 12pm)
July 24th: Business Curriculum Working Session at Start Up Waco (1pm to 4pm)
July 27th: Downtown Waco Farmers Market (9am to 12pm)
July 30th: Business Curriculum Working Session at Start Up Waco (1pm to 4pm)
Students will be required to sign up for the above mentorship opportunities ahead of time, and each event will last approximately three hours. During the Commercial Kitchen Days, mentors will simply help the students create their products (homemade dog treats, bath bombs, or cake pops) using the all-inclusive Boss Club business kits. During the Business Curriculum Working Sessions, mentors will help the students build the rest of their business through packaging their product, creating advertising flyers, and writing thank you notes to customers. Mentors will be given the curriculum in advance for familiarization (it’s very understandable). During the Waco Farmers Market Days mentors will help students sell their products in booths generously provided by the Waco Farmers Market!
For participants, starting their first business will be the memory of a lifetime, and mentors will have the opportunity to directly give back to their community by inspiring the next generation with independence, creativity, and drive.
